Rebecca Rae "Becky" (Blomerth) Beane

BENTON -- Rebecca "Becky" Rae Beane, 40, of Benton went to be with her Lord on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her home. She was surrounded by family and friends.

Becky was born in Winchester, Mass., on Aug. 17, 1967, the daughter of Donn and Linda (Gillis) Blomerth. She was raised in Lowell, Mass., before she moved to Maine in 1982 with her family. After graduating from Carrabec High School in 1985, Becky went on to Hesser College in Manchester, N.H., for a semester and then continued her education at Thomas College in Waterville.

She married the love of her life, David, on Sept. 1, 1990. Becky dedicated her life to David and their children, Jonathan and Samantha. She was employed by the company that David and she started together in 1989 called "Beane's Antiques & Photography."

Growing up, Becky and her family kept a very close relationship with her extended family. She loved her brothers and would do most anything for them and their families. She also loved getting all the nieces and nephews together for barbeques, swimming, camping, mining, and special occasions.

When diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2000, Becky started to get involved in proactive groups to help others. She became a member of the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition and was vice president for one year as well as the regional coordinator for the Young Survival Coalition with Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont for four years. She also became a member of the National Breast Cancer Coalition and attended two annual conferences in Washington, D.C., one trip taking along her then-4-year-old daughter, Samantha. She was also very involved with various fundraising events in Maine for breast cancer and loved to get all of her friends and family involved with her.

Becky was a proud member of Faith Evangelical Free Church in Waterville and helped with the children's worship. Becky was very active with volunteering at Benton Elementary and acted as coordinator of volunteers for a number of years. She was also a substitute at Maine School Administrative District 49. She was a strong supporter of her community, especially sports activities including PAL soccer, basketball, Terrier's soccer, softball, and horseback riding.

She was predeceased by her brother, Derek Brian Blomerth; maternal grandparents, Daniel and Mildred Gillis; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Priscilla Blomerth.

Becky is survived by her husband, David Beane and their two children, Jonathan and Samantha Beane of Benton; her parents, Donn and Linda Blomerth of Embden; brother, Dwane Blomerth and his three children, Kevin Brennan, Zachariah and Alexandria Blomerth of Benton; sister Jeanne Garza and her husband, Rafeal, and their four children, Matthew, Jeanne, Nicholas, and Anna Blomerth of Benton; brother, Daren Blomerth and his two girls, Hannah and Sarah Blomerth of Embden; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends along the way.
