The Email

Received the an email today from rr detailing how to convert from Adelphia to RoadRunner email. I went down the road of being a good boy, followed the directions, read the ToS (pretty sure I found some things missing too...), opened IE, allowed ActiveX (manually) and then what happens?

The Software

I get a software download from RoadRunner. Oh great, some software.

I'm sorry, but they get my money every month and they aren't buying the right to install things on my PC. Simple as that. I sure the hell am not putting software on my PC that you didn't explain to me exactly what it does!

Email Setup

I read about for a bit and then I found the Email FAQ page, which if they had started off their email with, I'd have been immensely happy.

I guess I'm just putting this here for reference. Ultimately I've resorted to forwarding everything to my gmail account anyway (and I set Fiona's the same way).

Accessing Road Runner Web Mail

   1. Go to Road Runner.
   2. Click the My Settings icon in the upper left hand corner of the icon bar at the top.
   3. Select the Divisions tab (appears on the same level as the Customize Content title to the right).
   4. In the Select Your Divisions window, select your State by clicking it on the map or checking the appropriate checkbox to the right.
   5. In the Select Your Division pop-up window that appears, click the checkbox beside your applicable Division.
   6. Click the OK button. You should now be on your local Road Runner site.
   7. Click the Web Mail icon in the upper right corner of the icon bar at the top.
   8. In the Your Web Mail Server window, click the checkbox to select the option that reads "[USER NAME]@roadrunner.com". You will be taken to the correct Web Mail login screen. You may also get to the login page for Road Runner Web Mail by going to http://webmail.roadrunner.com/.
   9. Once at the login page, enter your username in the user ID field. This would be the beginning of your e-mail address before the @ symbol.
  10. Enter your password in the password field.
  11. Click the Login button.

 Setting up your E-mail Client

The new e-mail server settings are

    Incoming mail server (POP) pop-server.roadrunner.com
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP) smtp-server.roadrunner.com

For step-by-step instructions on how to setup your e-mail client with your new POP and SMTP information, visit our E-mail Help Topic and select your appropriate e-mail client setup FAQ from the Select a specific E-mail FAQ drop-down menu.

ToS

  • Again I went back to read the ToS and apparently no servers for other parties or business enterprises.

Just me here. w00t
